Concerning Extraterrestrial Life 1947-Present." The author is a
professional health writer associated with the Friends of the Institute
of Noetic Sciences (FIONS) which Dr. Edgar Mitchell, the Apollo 14
astronaut is a founding member. The premise of the book is that the
nation and eventually the world is undergoing a mindshift or paradigm
shift. A paradigm is the beliefs shared by members of a given community.
The question the author asks is 'Is the American government helping or
hindering this mindshift concerning UFOs? The author has interviewed
several leading Ufologists for their views on this. There is no general
consensus of opinion. Among those interviewed are Edgar Mitchell, Dr.
John Mack of Harvard, Stanton Friedman, the physicist, abduction experts
Budd Hopkins and Dr. David Jacobs, Raymond Fowler, Don Berliner and
Michael Lindermann. The question is asked if the media and Hollywood
films are helped or influenced by government agents to present a
particular point of view toward UFOs? Most of those interviewed by
Mannion didn't think so. A chapter in the book is devoted towards
depiction's of aliens and UFOs in American movies.
