Probability 1: Why There Must Be Intelligent Life in the Universe

by Amir D. Aczel

Harcourt Brace and Company, New York, 230 pages

Professor Aczel is a mathematician who in this book seeks to prove that there is life elsewhere in the universe.  It is a popular work offered by the Book of the Month Club as a selection.  There is nothing in the book about UFO sightings.  It is significant that an establishment scientist totally ignores the UFO phenomena in dealing with a book on life elsewhere in the universe. It is not surprising.  Previous scientists turned authors such as Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking and Frank Drake also ignored UFOs or else debunked them. Of course UFOs may not necessarily be extraterrestrial in origin but still the phenomena should not be ignored in a book on life elsewhere in the universe. Science buffs should enjoy the book but UFO readers can stay clear of this book.
