Flying Wings of the Horten Brothers

by Hans-Peter Dabrowski

Schiffer Books, Atglen, PA 1995, Paperback, 64 pages, Price $14.95

The Horten Brothers were German engineers who developed the first flying wing plane.  At war end their wings were still in the experimental stage.  This book is long on photographs and short on text.  I would have wanted to know the extent of the influence of the Horten's flying wings on the American flying wing developed shortly after World War II.  The Stealth plane of today looks similar to some of the photographs in this book.  Many of the UFOs today resemble flying triangles. Are they modem descendants of the Horten flying wing or do they have a more exotic origin.  Anyone into making airplane models will enjoy the numerous photographs of this spectacular looking plane.
