Loren Coleman is one of America's foremost researchers into the unexplained. He is a Research Consultant at the Human Services Development Institute at the University of Southern Maine. Coleman has written over 100 articles on unknown animals, strange occurrences, and unusual phenomena. Although strictly speaking this is not a UFO book, it should be of interest to those who believe that much of this paranormal phenomena may be connected somehow to each other. Several Ohio related cases are mentioned such as the Loveland, Ohio "frogman creature" seen by policemen near a bridge in 1972. Was this creature an alien or is it an unknown species of animal native to Ohio? Or is it a hoax, hallucination or supernatural? There are no answers yet. Sheep killings in Fayette County by unknown predators are also mentioned. Spook lights and phantom trains are also mentioned. Supposedly there is a phantom train at Shelby, Ohio. Is this some natural phenomena we don't yet comprehend or is it paranormal? Haunted and ghost stories are mentioned. There is a state by state appendix of such places. Coleman cites Pickaway County's Timmon's Bridge as but one of several haunted places in North America. Photos and illustrations supplement the text. This book proves the point that one doesn't have to travel to exotic places like Indiana Jones does in the movies to find the unusual and mysterious. Right here in the heart of Ohio there is more than enough weird and eerie occurrences for any investigator of the unknown.
